The summer is finally here, hip-hip-hip hooray!
We kick-start our summer season with the British comedy mystery drama, Wicked Little Letters.
Described as “a deliciously sweary poison-pen mystery,” Wicked Little Letters stars Oscar winner Olivia Colman and Academy Award nominee, Jessie Buckley.
Set in a 1920’s English seaside town, Edith Swan (played by Colman), is a spinster and devout Christian, who becomes the target of hate mail. A rowdy Irish migrant (played by Buckley), is charged with the crime. Suspecting that something is amiss, the town’s women investigate.
Wicked Little Letters co-stars Anjana Vasan, Malachi Kirby and Timothy Spall and has received widespread acclaim. The New York Times call it “prim, proper and profane” and the Inlander calls it “funny as hell and bursting with impudent energy.”
This summer screening of Wicked Little Letters also marks L A Cinema’s 9th birthday. So expect some bubbly and a few treats to mark the occasion and thank you all for your support over many many years!
