Described by Empire Magazine as “Sublime, moving and magical.” The Breadwinner is a critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated animation, from executive producer Angelina Jolie and the creators of The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea.
The Breadwinner tells the story of Parvana, an 11-year-old girl growing up under the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001. When her father is wrongly arrested, Parvana disguises herself as a boy in order to support her family. With perseverance, Parvana draws strength from the stories her father told her and risks her life to discover if he is still alive.
The Breadwinner screens at Long Ashton Community Centre on Saturday, June 15th at 20:00pm. Drinks (wine, beer, ciders, teas and coffees) and snacks will be available on the night. Doors open at 19:15pm. The film will be preceded with trailers for forthcoming LA Cinema attractions and a short film. Tickets £5.00 general admission and £2.50 children (15 or under). Children under the age of 12 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
